Class 57 Thunderbirds Are Go

Well actually I will correct that statement they are gone.

It has been reported from many sources and read in this months Rail Express magazine 6 out of the Class 57/3 locomotives in operation will now be taken over by Network Rail, for brand new top n tail test trains.  The Locomotives will be 57301/3/5/6/10/12.  All these locomotives have been out of use for some time, with most being stored at Wembley.  It will be good to see British built locomotives back in use on the rails.  All will be painted in the Network Rail livery, which personally I think will suit this locomotive.  It has also been reported from a number of sources that some of the locomotives are already at Eastleigh for the repaint.  Once painted he locomotives will then be returned to Brush for realignment of the Deliner couplings and brake control modifications.  The locomotives could also be used for De Icing and snow plough duties during winter periods and will still be available for rescue work, but sadly will lose their Thunderbird names.  If anyone spots or photograph the new liveried locomotives let me know.
